Zecharias Zelalem is a journalist and researcher who covers the Horn of Africa. Focusing on human rights and migration, he won the 2021 Fetisov Prize for Investigative Journalism and his coverage of Ethiopia's fratricidal wars earned him nominations at the Amnesty International Media Awards, the One World Media Awards, the Rory Peck Awards and the British Journalism Awards. He has bylines in Al Jazeera, The Continent, The Globe and Mail and the Thomson Reuters Foundation among others, and is a visiting fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations.
